Leading Team Projects
Leading Team Projects focuses on learning to lead projects and reach goals with a team approach. It presents the basics of vision, planning and goal setting, with tracking and delegation. It also presents forming, developing and mobilizing an effective team. It concludes with how to finish a project well.

Rod Mills serves as a Chaplain for the US Army. He has over 20 years of experience in the military, ministry, and business. He has also served on LTI's Board of Directors. Rod has helped plant numerous churches in both in the US and overseas. Rod holds an MA in Management and a Master of Divinity degree. Rod and his wife, Elizabeth, have five children: Andrew, Janae, Nicole, Gabriel, and Daniel.

Main Objective
The object of this module is to help ministry leaders develop a team approach to lead team projects and achieve ministry success by building the three key elements of a team project.

Project Objective:

Participants will learn how to develop the projects purpose, vision, and mission.

Project Leader: Participants will learn how to become an effective coach and role model.
Project Team: Participants will learn how to select, place, and build a project team.

Module Overview
This module is unique in several ways. It is a training tool to equip Christian leaders to train other Christians for leading team projects. This material also challenges and inspires leaders to personally reach their fullest potential as team project leaders.

Leading Team Projects provides seven sessions on how to better lead, identify and build project teams within the ministry for ministry success.

Session 1:
Establishing
the Project
Objective
We will introduce the importance of purpose, vision, and mission of the overall project, and how to build team cohesiveness around them, including:
00• three elements of a team project.
00• three possible methods used to develop a project objective and its elements.
00• the importance of the leader’s intent.
00• importance of keeping four key groups informed concerning project objectives.
00• seven obstacles to developing project objectives.
Session 2:
Becoming an
Effective
Project Leader
We will discover basic principles and practices in becoming an effective project leader, including:
00• six Cs (traits) of an effective leader.
00• fifteen coaching functions of a project leader.
00• two main areas a leader is a proper role model.
00• ten mistakes to avoid as a project leader.
Session 3:
Becoming an
Effective
Project Manager
We will discover basic principles and practices in becoming an effective project manager, including:
00• fourteen distinctions between leading and managing.
00• ten characteristics of an effective project manager.
00• eight key functions of an effective project manager.
00• uses of an event-planning checklist.
00• six key items in a project expense budget.
Session 4:
Building the
Project Team
We will discover the basic principles of recruiting, identifying, and motivating people with a divine call to be part of a project team, including:
00• six attributes of an effective project team.
00• six steps to Spirit-led team selection.
00• five ways to properly place team members.
00• six areas of team selection readiness.
00• five aspects of team preparation.
Session 5:
Setting and
Tracking
Project Goals
We will discover the basic principles and practices of goal setting and tracking, including:

00• five characteristics of project goals.
00• eight steps within the process of defining goals and related tasks.
00• eight items for monitoring and tracking project goals.
00• five keys to achieving project goals.
Session 6:
Supporting the
Team Project
We will examine how to support a team both spiritually and financially, including:
00• three ways to build prayer support for a team project.
00• five principles for raising financial support for a team project.
00• four reasons to commission a project team.
Session 7:
Finishing the
Project Well
We will discover how to properly finish a project, including:
00• four ways to evaluate a team project.
00• two methods for presenting a project report.
00• why it is necessary to celebrate the team project.
