The Leader's Balanced Life focuses on increasing your leadership capacity by developing a balanced life. It challenges leaders to examine themselves and seek to maintain excellence in themselves, their family, their relationships, their work, and their finances.

Brad Shedd is the Pastor of Adult Ministry at Harvest Assembly in Chesapeake, VA, where he is responsible for pastoral care, assimilation, discipleship, and worship. An accomplished violinist, he received a Bachelor of Music and also holds a Master of Divinity degree. He lives in Chesapeake, VA with his wife Alyson and their five children. |

Overview
The Leader's Balanced Life focuses on increasing leadership capacity by developing a balanced life, so leaders may pursue and model such a life. It challenges leaders to examine themselves to take care of Yourself, Family, Relationships, Work, and Finances and keep all these areas in harmony together. This module has seven sessions which are all designed to help leaders balance their lives.

Session 1:
Introducing a
Balanced Life |
We will introduce the concept of a balanced life, so leaders may pursue and model such a life, including:

00• three aspects of a "well-ordered heart."
00• three aspects of how a balanced life is "aligned within" each key area.
00• four aspects of how a "balanced life" is balanced among all the areas. |
Session 2:
Caring for Yourself

We will learn how caring for yourself will enable leaders to be closer to God, healthier, and more effective, including:
00• four aspects of how to understand our triune being.
00• six common spiritual disciplines for caring for your spirit.
00• three key aspects of caring for your soul.
00• two key aspects involved in caring for your body.
00• two ways a leader must care for their whole self. |
Session 3:
Nurturing Your Family |
We will show how to better nurture your family, so ministry leaders will have a more healthy family life, including:
00• three current trends that reflect the crisis of the family under attack.
00• five principles for imparting spiritually within your home.
00• three aspects of nurturing your family.
00• three ways a leader will develop a healthy family life. |
Session 4:
Enhancing Your Relationships |
We will learn how to better understand human relationships, so that ministry leaders will be able to enhance their relationships, including:
00• two reasons that explain why humans need relationships.
00• five aspects of keeping integrity in relationships.
00• four benefits of accountability.
00• two keys to preserving your relationships.
00• two processes that mend broken relationships.

Serving God Through Your Work |
We will study the concept of serving God through work, so ministry leaders may experience more fulfilling work environments, including:
00• three aspects of why God is a worker.
00• four aspects of how God created us to work.
00• three aspects of how we serve God in our work.
00• three ways leaders have a healthy perspective of work. |
Session 6:
Stewarding Your Finances |
We will study the concept of biblical stewardship, so ministry leaders may experience more financial freedom and fruitfulness, including:
00• three areas that are experiencing a stewardship crisis.
00• five biblical principles that give a mandate for good stewardship.
00• the spiritual roots of foolish financial mindsets and the foolish practices
000that result from them.
00• three ways to experience wise financial stewardship.
00• three ways a leader models good stewardship. |

Pursuing a
Balanced Life

We will learn how to bring all the concepts of a balanced life together so a leader can effectively pursue a balanced life, including:

00• four principles for recovery from burnout.
